    Double Relaxation via AdS/CFT

    Get PDF
We exploit the AdS/CFT correspondence to investigate thermalization in an N=2 strongly coupled gauge theory including massless fundamental matter (quark). More precisely, we consider the response of a zero temperature state of the gauge theory under variation of an external electric field leading to a time-dependent current. The holographic dual of the above set-up is given by introducing a time-dependent electric field on the probe D7-brane embedded in an AdS_5 X S^5 background. In the dual gravity theory, due to a time-dependent electric field an apparent horizon forms on the brane which, according to AdS/CFT dictionary, is the counterpart of the thermalization process in the gauge theory. We classify different functions for time-dependent electric field and study their effect on the apparent horizon formation. In the case of pulse functions where the electric field varies from zero to zero, apart from non-equilibrium phase, we observe that two apparent horizons form on the brane. On the gauge theory side, it means that the state of the gauge theory experiences two different temperatures during the time evolution.Comment: 28 pages, 13 figures, published versio

Fish milt quality and major factors influencing the milt quality parameters: A review

In commercial fish production, the evaluation of milt quality is essential in order to increase the efficiency of artificial fertilization. Numerous studies have demonstrated that qualitative parameters of milt (i.e. seminal fluid composition, spermatozoa motility and sperm production) could be influence by several factors including biological characteristics of brooders (age, weight and length), rearing conditions of brooders (temperature, photoperiod, nourishment, undesirable components and animal welfare and health), artificial induction of spawning, spawning season (repeated milt collection and spermiation time) and post stripping factors (chemical properties of diluents and short-term and long-term storage of milt). In the present paper, we review the roles of these factors on quality of milt fish. On the whole understanding of the factors that affect milt quality could be useful for adjustment and efficient management of these factors in order to obtain good milt for fertilization. Keywords: Fish production, milt quality, artificial fertilizatio

Routing with Congestion in Acyclic Digraphs

We study the version of the kk-disjoint paths problem where kk demand pairs (s1,t1)(s_1,t_1), \dots, (sk,tk)(s_k,t_k) are specified in the input and the paths in the solution are allowed to intersect, but such that no vertex is on more than cc paths. We show that on directed acyclic graphs the problem is solvable in time nO(d)n^{O(d)} if we allow congestion kdk-d for kk paths. Furthermore, we show that, under a suitable complexity theoretic assumption, the problem cannot be solved in time f(k)no(d/logd)f(k)n^{o(d/\log d)} for any computable function ff

Genetic difference and resemblance between Acipenser persicus and Acipenser gueldenstaedtii by means of RAPD Technique

We studied genetic difference and resemblance between Acipenser persicus and Acipenser guldenstaediii using Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) technique. The DNA of tail fin tissue of three A. persicus and A. gueldenstaedtii were extracted using phenol-chloroform method. After electrophoresis of the samples by agarose gel, their concentrations were regulated and Polymerise Chain Reaction (PCR) was conducted by 53 primers. PCR products were electrophoresed on polyacrylamide gel and silver staining was done to reveal the DNA bands of the samples. Among 53 primers, 17 had no site on genomic DNA of A. persicus and A. gueldenstaedtii and did not produce any bands while the remaining 36 primers showed band pattern. Analyzing the PCR products data using RAPD PLOT program showed that the maximum and minimum genetic distance between species were 73% and 65% respectively. Also, the mean difference between the species was 70% and the maximum and minimum genetic resemblance between the two species were 35% and 27% respectively. Based on the results, we conclude that A. persicus is an independent species from A. gueticienstaeditii

Effect of Nepeta Menthoides on Cognitive Disorders in Alzheimer’s Disease: A Clinical Trial

Nowadays, given the outbreak of Alzheimer disease (AD) as a global phenomenon, it is absolutely essential to take efficacious measures against it. Heating up the brain is a recommended approach to decrease the symptoms of AD. Furthermore, using hot herb is an effective method to enhance the temperature of the brain. One of the hot herbs is Nepeta menthoides which is known as Ostokhodus and has neuroprotective effects. In the present paper, the effect of Nepeta on the treatment of Alzheimer was studied. A trial was carried out on two groups of AD patients. While the first group was prescribed the capsules of Nepeta extraction, the second group was given the placebo capsules. The results of the taken MMSE inventories from both of the tested groups as the comparison criteria revealed that Nepeta had positive influence on the treatment of AD
